Dear Marc,
Among the thousands of fan mails you receive everyday, today I am writing one to you. I really hope you get to read it, even if you don’t, I want the world to know how grateful I am to you.
Yesterday, the first thing I read in the morning was about your departure from Louis Vuitton, it was before I got a chance to watch your last show for Louis Vuitton. It was a rumour, that had gone around for months, a rumour I never wanted to turn true, but yesterday the inevitable happened.
It’s hard to see you leave, but I also look forward to your new beginnings, to seeing where Marc Jacobs, the man and the brand will go from here, and what will unfold at Louis Vuitton.
Out of the sixteen years you gave to Louis Vuitton, I closely have followed nine, (I am twenty), and have tried my best to cover up and learn about the ones I missed. There’s a little, actually a huge regret, I never got to watch Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton in real, but what I treasure is every year, when I used to get transported into a world of enchantment, something far more than just models strutting down the ramp. Marc Jacobs for me is the showman, a man who draws inspiration from various things in life, salutes women power, is a powerhouse of talent, one of the sexiest men on earth and most importantly my inspiration, my idol.
The show yesterday made me howl, tears streamed down my face, as I saw Edie walk around the set, in her “I love Paris” monogrammed bodysuit. The elevators, the fountain, the carousel, the escalators, the clock from the railway station, it was sixteen years of pure brilliance being flashed in front of my eyes again. Every memory came rushing back. Though there was sadness, there was also a feeling of triumph and celebration of what you’ve achieved. You changed how I perceived fashion, you made me believe it was more than just garments, you taught us nothing was impossible. Paris without Marc Jacobs, is something that I shall never be able to come to terms with.
I look forward to what you have in store for us next, but Marc, here’s thanking you for those wonderful 16 years. Those crazy shows, and most importantly for sharing your dreams, creativity and brilliance with us.
Marc Jacobs, will be celebrated, even though Paris and Louis Vuitton will never be the same, but as a wise man told me look forward to what the future holds, and not something that you can’t have.
Wishing you the best for everything always,
Thank you Marc.
Love,
Rasna

I haven’t been following Marc for very long but from what I’ve learned, he got the party started at Louis Vuitton. The few shows I have seen including his last one at LV have been mesmerising. And Marc by Marc Jacobs is just plain LOVE.
So much respect for the man and his art. I hope he gets to read this beautiful letter someday! <3
