A good party never hurt anybody. As much as I love attending fashion do’s, I can’t help feel a little intimated and starstruck-ed at times, so I was intrigued when The Pink Post It sent me an invite to attend a Chic Speak, they promised great conversations and interactions over cocktails and sushi. Honestly I couldn’t refuse!
The Pink Post It is the brainchild of two super stunning intelligent women, Sharnamli Mehra Adhar and Mitali Wadhwa, who don’t limit their fashion sense to the glossies. The Pink Post-It is not just another trunk show. These two young girls take a lot of pains and put in a great deal of hard work to curate a show every season (this being their 4th edition), not just to treat shoppers, but to offer a great platform to talented designers. They showcase new designers every season, who have the potential to push the conventional boundaries and bring in about a change.
Chic Speak is a new initiative, wherein the girls bring in the concept of fashion mentorship to us. Discussing and interacting with the people who made it big and how, over a casual-fun setting, where a person like me wouldn’t be intimidated to ask a few questions or strike up a conversation.
While Sharnamli feels “Chic Speak is our attempt to share the vast base of knowledge regarding trends and new techniques with an audience that is always looking for newer and trendier options. It’s a platform for the young to interact with the stalwarts of the industry”, Mitali’s vision on the on the hand was to humanise the idea of Fashion, pulling it out of its glittery shell and bringing it to the people.
For their very first edition of Chic Speak, the girls invited Wellness and Fitness expert Sumaya Dalmia, and the super talented Outhouse sisters Sasha and Kaabia Grewal to talk about their careers and journey. The fun element of the evening definitely was the sushi making demo by ace chefs Vaibhav Bhargava and Saurabh Sharan of Guppy by ai, where the event took place.
Thrilled to have been a part of a crowd oozing with energy and a mutual love for all things fabulous: Fashion and Food (they’re always on the top of my list), I found out how I wasn’t really intimidated by these super successful people I admire and look up to.
It was great listening to Sumaya, as she spoke about fitness, and our lack of knowledge on the subject of such great importance. She spoke about the importance of a fitness regime, rather than the bizarre idea of diets we tend to follow. A great point made by her was to test the trainers we end up trusting blindly. A trainer according to her is not just there to make you slim, but his/her role is to make you healthy: physically, emotionally and psychologically. While its great to eat right, its wrong to diet, or remove food groups from one’s diet. A fun conversation where she spoke about the common misconceptions in regard to fitness and the gym, and how there was a life beyond cardio.
Sasha and Kaabia, the talented sister-duo of Outhouse spoke about their journey from being sisters to business partners, their experiences in life, and how they had grown their baby into a mega-success in such a short time. They spoke about their common passion for pushing the boundaries and the love of jewellery which drives them to do something better and different each day. The fun part being how it isn’t easy when their two personalities clash, even though they share a common passion and career, they are two different people, and how they try not mix their professional tiffs into sibling rivalry. It was great to hear how these two young girls came to another city and made a mark for themselves. Also a little birdie told me they are coming out with the Outhouse Man, and a future collaboration with the House of Waris (yes you’re reading it right!).
Vaibhav and Saurabh answered our questions about sushi, and taught us how to make a few rolls easily at home. For all you sushi lovers out there, Guppy by ai does give Sushi making lessons.
The party continued in full swing after the interactive session with us all sipping delicious martinis and nibbling sushi at Guppy by ai. The spring summer edition of Pink Post It is being held on the 29th of March’14 at The Lodhi Hotel, Lodhi Road. Brands such as Outhouse, Elitify, J by Jannat Mehra, Carousel by Simran Arya and many more shall be participating. I suggest this is the place to get your summer shopping started. Don’t forget to meet the charming Pink Post It founders Sharnamli and Mitali, they’re wonderful warm girls with a brilliant sense of fashion, and more!
